Offensive Tackle

It took a lot of tweaking by Andy Reid and his staff before they finally found an offensive line combination that worked.  Eric Fisher and Donald Stephenson held things down at tackle but neither was particularly good in their respective roles.  Pass protection especially.  Together they allowed six sacks and 63 pressures on Alex Smith.

There is no harm in the Chiefs wanting to seek out some competition at such a key position.  One name they can and should look to take a chance on is Kelvin Beachum.  He was playing really well this past season for the Pittsburgh Steelers at left tackle before he tore his ACL.  The year before he played every game and was outstanding.  At age 27 he’s still young and could help upgrade the pass protection.
