Cleveland Browns: Guide for the next Front Office
Draft..Draft..Draft..
The draft is another area where Cleveland needs to take their time and make sure they’re dead set on what they’re getting. Drafting players with an attitude isn’t an issue if you have the staff to control those egos and emotions, but if you don’t, then you’re going to get what the Browns drafted in 2014. Assuming that the 2016 draft will avoid character issues it’s important that this staff has the right guys to build and develop these players. There’s nothing worse than drafting a guy that has all the ability but none of the coaching. If a quarterback is indeed where the Browns go with one of their top picks they’re going to need a coach that can patiently bring him along and develop him into the hopeful franchise quarterback of the future.

I thought what Ray Farmer did last year was brilliant (even though he’s out of a job), in being that many of the players he drafted were former team captains or possessed a leadership quality. The Browns have been a team where body language has been apparent on the field for years, guys quitting or not giving a full effort on the gridiron has upset fans and started a chorus of boo’s. Drafting a team full of leaders could really turn this team around outside of the coaching. The idea that being down in a game doesn’t mean “same old Cleveland” but rather bringing out the dogfight in this team would be a wonder to see for the Browns.
Haden, Thomas and Mack have been the three best players on this team for the past few years but with Haden’s concussion issues, Mack’s looming free agency and Thomas’ age and possibly wanting to be traded, it looks like the Browns are in need of a few new stars. The upcoming draft is one of the more talented drafts in recent years and the Browns have a chance to hit on a few potential star players if they play their cards right. Let’s hope the new General Manager doesn’t whiff on his top-tier picks.
