There have been plenty of success stories going around the league in 2015, and they deserve the spotlight.  Still, every bright light has a shadow and there are a number of players, coaches, executives and teams out there who have disappointed all who watch them.  The Mocks crew was asked who their biggest flop was this season in this latest NFL roundtable.

Brady Lunt:

Dez Bryant. Despite the injury, Bryant was almost non-existent in each game he started. DeAndre Hopkins managed a terrific season despite 4 different quarterbacks throwing to him. Bryant routinely dropped passes, never found a rhythm, and seemed too easy to cover. While some of this is attributed to his injury (and many will again point to QB play), he never could find his footing throughout the season. I still believe he is one of the best and most dynamic receivers in the league, but 2015 is a season to forget.

Eric Robinson:

Whoa. Tough to narrow down. I’ll have to lean towards the Indianapolis Colts. Preseason hype and rightfully so. I will admit, I picked Indy as my preseason AFC rep at the Super Bowl. Injuries had a major impact on the way this season has turned out for
them. However, so did the “background” tension between GM Ryan Grigson and coach Chuck Pagano. The Colts make look different next season and it’s a shame based on what they could’ve done.

Rodney Stokes:

My biggest NFL disappointment of 2015 has to be Dwayne Bowe. A player that is the all-time leading receiver in Kansas City Chiefs history should never be behind two quarterbacks in receiving yards one year into his new contract. Much less two quarterbacks for the Cleveland Browns.  Over $7 million dollars was paid and nothing to show for it. If Dwayne Bowe has a job next year I’ll be shocked.

Erik Lambert:

Without question for me it’s the Miami Dolphins.  Everything about them had the look of a playoff contender.  They signed Ndamukong Suh in free agency to upgrade a defense that finished 12th in 2014.  A number of additions were made to the offense at tight end and wide receiver to give Ryan Tannehill a chance to improve on a 4,000-yard, 27 touchdown season.  It was a 8-8 team that, on paper had upgraded their talent.

Instead the team has fallen apart.  The defense has plummeted to 27th this season while the wide receiving corps has looked ineffective outside of Jarvis Landry and they have not committed to seriously running the football despite averaging 4.5 yards per carry for the season.  They fired their head coach before the year was even over and it looks like their front office is next.  A team considered a threat in the AFC East now appears to be starting over.
