NFL Owners to Vote on Los Angeles Relocation January 12th
NFL Owners will vote on January 12th, 2017 on whether or not to allow team(s) to relocate to Los Angeles.
A possible relocation of one or more NFL teams to the Los Angeles area is getting closer to reality. After an NFL owners meeting today, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed that the owners will hold a meeting on January 12th, 2017. The meeting will reportedly take place in Houston, Texas. Irsay said that the owners are leaning towards having two teams in Los Angeles, which could favor certain teams over others.
A two team relocation to Los Angeles could favor the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders. The two teams released a stadium in which both organizations would share in the LA area. The St. Louis Rams on the other hand would prefer have their own stadium, making it seem as if their efforts may be for not. More recent reports however have indicated that the Rams would be willing to bring in one of those other teams into its’ plans to build in nearby Inglewood, California.
It seems with this plan the San Diego Chargers are more likely to move. The Raiders, who currently play on a baseball field, could eventually look else where to relocate. Some cities that have been floated (but not confirmed) to be hot spots for relocation include Portland, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake, and Las Vegas. Internationally, the NFL has always had a dream of having a franchise in London, Toronto, or Mexico City.
