College Football Playoffs Predictions: Who’s In and Who’s Out

facebooktwitterreddit

The third round of college football playoffs poll of the season will be announced tonight, so the NFL Mocks staff decided to predict the top four teams. In the second round of picks, Clemson came out as the committees first team, followed by Alabama, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. The selection committee is still clearly looking at the strength of schedule a little closer this season, so some of our writers did the same.

We also decided to pick the first team out, a position no team ever wants to be in.

Check out what our staff thought prior to the first College Football Playoff Rankings being posted. You can also catch up on last weeks rankings here from NFL Mocks. If you’d really like a good laugh, here were our preseason playoff predictions, where teams like Baylor, TCU, and Ole Miss made appearances.

Here are the first teams out in the opinion of our staff:

Shawn Spencer: Oklahoma State

Sayre Bedinger: Iowa

Joe Wedra: Oklahoma State

George Stockburger: Oklahoma State

Rodney Stokes: Oklahoma State

David Holmes: Iowa

While their rankings aren’t as highly viewed at this point, the AP Poll did rank Clemson number one overall. Ohio State, Alabama and Oklahoma State claimed their final three spots, while Notre Dame and Iowa just missed the cut. UCLA, Mississippi State, Temple and Memphis saw their programs drop out of the AP Poll after being ranked most of the entire college football season. As we’ve seen in the past though, one game can and will make all the difference once the bowl games are announced.

Games to watch this weekend with playoff implications: Michigan State vs Ohio State; Baylor vs Oklahoma State; TCU vs Oklahoma

Stay tuned to NFL Mocks for when the NCAA Selection Committee’s poll becomes official later tonight.
