Cardinals RB Chris Johnson breaks amazing TD run against Ravens
You cannot kill Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson.
Johnson, the former rushing king of the NFL, was an outcast and nearly died this offseason when he was in the car during a drive-by shooting. Johnson was shot in the shoulder and was okay, but the driver was killed.
It was a scary and tragic situation for a guy whose NFL career already appeared to be finished. Bruce Arians and the Arizona Cardinals, already armed with an intriguing set of running backs, decided late to take a chance on the player formerly known as CJ2K, and it has worked out very, very well.
Johnson is in the top 10 in the NFL in rushing yards. He has averaged nearly five yards per carry and just scored his third rushing touchdown of the season against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. This run is absolutely sick, and it’s not necessarily a vintage CJ2K run. It looks more like a Marshawn Lynch “Beast Mode” run.
It appears as though Johnson has been re-born in Arians’ offense, which is great for everyone involved. His re-emergence as a legitimate NFL running back allows Andre Ellington to keep to a limited snap count, which is important given his injury history. It also allows the Cardinals to pick their spots with rookie David Johnson, who is another budding playmaker for this team.
The Cardinals are a two-loss team, but their skill position players offensively are as exciting as you will find around the league, and the addition of a reinvented Chris Johnson has been nothing short of a sweet, sweet surprise.
Bruce Arians either really knows what he’s doing, or there’s something in the water in desert of Arizona. Perhaps they have found the fountain of youth.
