Jaguars Blow Big Lead, Hold On to Beat Bills in London
NFL fans went into this weeks international showdown in London with very low expectations. The Jacksonville Jaguars entered the game with a 1-5 record and their opponent, the Buffalo Bills, have been decimated by injuries. Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor was out with an MCL sprain, leaving former first round pick EJ Manuel with the starting duties across the pond.
Early on, the Jaguars had the Bills number and made some big plays on defense. After an Allen Robinson touchdown in the second quarter put the Jaguars up 7-3, Jacksonville scored on back-to-back turnovers by EJ Manuel and the Bills. Chris Clemons recovered a fumble for a touchdown, followed 15 seconds later by a Telvin Smith pick-six.
Rookie running back TJ Yeldon rushing touchdown meant 27 unanswered points scored by the Jaguars against Rex Ryan’s Buffalo Bills. After an awful start for EJ Manuel, the Bills went on to score 28 unanswered points and mounted an 31-27 lead. Touchdowns by Marcus Easley and Robert Woods helped in that comeback, as did a 44-yard pick-six by Corey Graham.

With the Jaguars luck seemingly runout, a bad pass interference call against the Bills gave Blake Bortles and the offense new life. On 3rd and 15, Bills corner Nickell Robey was called for pass interference, giving the Jaguars 17 yards and a first down.
Bortles and the Jaguars offense would go down the field, leading to a 31-yard touchdown reception by Allen Hurns in the endzone. It was an excellent, strong throw by the former second overall pick, who was running to his left and throwing off-balance.
The Bills would get a chance to come back, but bad game management by EJ Manuel would lead to a turnover on downs.
Jacksonville would walk away from this international game with their second win of the season, a 34-31 victory against the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills will have to sit with this loss as they enter a bye week with the hopes Tyrod Taylor returns healthy for a big game against the Dolphins. Jacksonville will also get a bye and face Rex Ryan’s former team in New York.
