The patience of the Cleveland Browns in regards to quarterback Johnny Manziel has been admirable.  After such a horrific start to his career last season and then going into rehab, it would’ve been easy for the organization to throw in the towel.  They didn’t, instead choosing to wait it out and see if time and effort on their part could result in him maturing into the player they feel he can be for their franchise.

"“Several witnesses called police after seeing Manziel and his girlfriend, TCU student Colleen Elizabeth Crowley, arguing in a vehicle on Monday. The argument escalated to the point that Crowley tried to leave the car as it exited a highway. Both Manziel and Crowley admitted to arguing, and Manziel told police they had been drinking earlier in the day. The police officer made the determination that Manziel was not intoxicated and he was not charged.”"

It is the exact opposite of what Cleveland fans have wanted to hear regarding their once-prized 1st round pick.  Even though they still believe in his ability and wish so much to see him become their franchise player, the bottom line is the 22-year old hasn’t grown up nearly enough and this latest incident is a warning to the Browns that perhaps they’ve been patient long enough.

This team has gotten by well enough with Josh McCown, but he’s in his mid-30s and hardly seems like the answer they’ve not had at quarterback since Bernie Kosar.  With the 2016 NFL draft looming closer, they might feel compelled to dip into the well again, perhaps for somebody who is less of a risk.

Jared Goff?

Christian Hackenberg?

Connor Cook?

At least those three have something in common.  They don’t come with the baggage Johnny “Football” brought with him from Texas A&M, and after the controversies this team has dealt with over the past couple seasons, boring might be a really good thing.
