Original Story

After getting Le’Veon Bell back from suspension, the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a major blow to their potent offense. During the third quarter, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was sacked by safety Mark Barron. Roethlisberger laid on the ground after having his left knee buckle underneath him and had to be carted into the locker room.

Roethlisberger was performing exceptional well once again for the Steelers. He left the game after completing 20 of his 24 pass attempts, while also throwing an interception. He was also sacked three times, with that third being responsible for his early exit.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the team expects their franchise quarterback to miss a minimum of four weeks. The team is awaiting the results of an MRI, which will determine the state of the ACL.

Veteran back-up Michael Vick entered the game for the Steelers after Roethlisberger left the field. Vick finished the game five for six with 38 passing yards. He was in the negative range for rushing yards, finishing with minus two rushing yards.

The Steelers would end up beating the Rams by an odd score of 12-6. Le’Veon Bell had the only touchdown of the game in his return, and the Steelers converted another two-point conversion. Kicker Josh Scobee was two for two on field goal attempts.

Rams first round pick Todd Gurley made his NFL debut, but saw seldom playing time. He only carried the ball six times for a measly nine yards. He also had a five yard  catch, but failed to get in the end zone. Quarterback Nick Foles finished 19 for 28 with an interception caught by Will Allen.

Pittsburgh will host Baltimore next week on Thursday night football. If Roethlisberger only misses four weeks, he will also miss games against the Chargers, Cardinals, and Chiefs.
