Draft Stock Up: Defense
Jordan Jenkins (OLB – Georgia)
Teammate Leonard Floyd may be a more highly-regarded outside linebacker prospect, but Jordan Jenkins has been dominant thus far. Through two games, he leads Georgia in tackles (18), tackles for a loss (6.5) and sacks (3). In Week 2 against SEC opponent Vanderbilt, Jenkins finished with 5.5 tackles for a loss. He’s creating chaos in the offensive backfield on both run and pass plays. With edge rushers being needed more and more in the NFL these days, Jenkins could very well become a first-round pick.
Carl Nassib (DE – Penn State)
The season hasn’t started the way the Nittany Lions would have liked, but Carl Nassib certainly isn’t to blame. He wasn’t even a lock to be drafted two weeks ago, but he’s on the radar now after another strong performance against Buffalo.
Nassib, whose brother Ryan is the backup QB for the New York Giants, already has four sacks on the year. That’s twice as many as he had in his career leading up to this season. Three of those sacks came this past weekend against Buffalo. In addition, he also forced two fumbles and intercepted a pass in the backfield. While Anthony Zettel is the Penn State defensive lineman scouts are raving about, it’s impossible not to notice the impact Nassib has made.

Kai Nacua (FS – Brigham Young)
After serving a one-game suspension for his involvement in a post-game brawl at last season’s Miami Beach Bowl, Kai Nacua returned better than ever.
The Brigham Young offense has been all over the news after back-to-back comeback wins, but the defense has stepped up when needing a stop. Against Boise State, Kai Nacua stepped up more than once. He finished the game with three interceptions. The final interception came with under a minute left in the game and was returned for a score. Listed at 6-foot-2, Nacua has very good size for the position and should be a Day 3 pick if he enters the 2016 draft.
Kentrell Brothers (ILB – Missouri)
The Missouri defense looks a lot different then it did just a year ago. Shane Ray and Markus Golden left for the NFL, Marcus Loud was dismissed and Harold Brantley is out for the season because of an injury. With all that turnover on the front seven, Kentrell Brothers has become an increasingly important player in the middle of the Tigers defense.
As a team, Missouri struggled against Arkansas State, only winning by seven. Brothers however, played possibly his best collegiate game. Known for his run-stuffing ability, Brothers made 16 tackles during the game. He also intercepted two passes in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. He won’t wow anyone in one particular area, but overall he’s worthy of a mid-round pick.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin (OLB – Tennessee)
With Curt Maggitt out for an extended amount of time, linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin needs to play well. Despite the loss to Oklahoma, he got off to a good start.
In the overtime thriller, Reeves-Maybin accumulated 21 tackles. He was all over the field as both a run and pass defender. He’s been overshadowed by Maggitt and A.J. Johnson during the course of his college career, but the junior is now the one in the spotlight. With one more game until the Volunteers begin SEC play, Reeves-Maybin will need to play well if Tennessee has any chance to reach the SEC title game.
