After loosing star pass rusher Terrell Suggs to a torn achillies tendon yesterday, the Baltimore Ravens have found his short-term replacement. Veteran pass rusher Jason Babin will become a Raven after signing a one year, league minimum deal with the team Monday night.

The 35-year old was originally drafted by the Texans in 2004, and has since played for the Seahawks, Chiefs, Titans, Eagles, Jaguars, Jets. In his 13 seasons, Babin has 64.5 sacks and 372 combined tackles.

In recent years Babin has been known as a a guy who bounces from team to team. As member of the Eagles disastrous 2011 “Dream Team”, Babin shortly became known as a “me guy” and fell to become unfavorable with the media and fans. Half way through the 2012 season, the team released him. He had lost the respect of his teammates, and was released by the “higher-ups” of the organization, not Andy Reid. He soon moved on to Jacksonville and New York and played in a limited role during those times.

As for the Baltimore Ravens today, the loss of such a highly regarded veteran like Terrell Suggs will surely have an effect on and off the field.

Fourth round pick Za’Darius Smith will surely get his chance to prove himself with the team. For a team with a strong veteran presence, he’ll be strongly supported.

The Ravens have had nine players be placed on some form of injury reserved this season, which is towards to leaderboard of the NFL. After a tough loss to the Broncos, they will stay out west for the week to square off with the Raiders.
