Minnesota Vikings (Lost 20-3 to San Francisco)

All we heard this offseason was how dominant the Minnesota defense was going to be and how explosive their offense will be this upcoming season, while the 49ers were supposed to be this offseason crippled defense with a struggling, original offense with no help from the offensive line. I don’t know about you, but the proverbial script was unequivocally flipped last night when the 49ers absolutely destroyed the Minnesota Vikings last night. Well Jonah, how is 20-3 a blowout by any means? Here is my case: The Vikings could not stop Carlos Hyde defensively at all, and their offense wasn’t keeping their defense fresh. What did that lead to you may ask? Oh just the Carlos Hyde break out party, no biggie. The San Francisco 49ers instead had the fresh defense and generated a pass rush on the crippled offensive line of the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, the San Francisco 49ers were comfortably leading this game without the scoreboard needing to show for it. Of all the teams in week one, the Minnesota Vikings were the most disappointing in the fact that they were supposed to be this team full of youth and energy fit to be a contender for the NFC North. I did NOT see youth and energy from either the offense or defense last night, instead, I saw a group of players that played a game that they thought they would easily win and didn’t take this game serious enough. Maybe we all need to temper our expectations for Minnesota this upcoming season as they surely came in overconfident in week one.
