Brian Hoyer over Ryan Mallett
Head coach Bill O’Brien went with quarterback Brian Hoyer to lead the Houston Texans in 2015 because he felt the 29-year old offered more consistency under center than his teammate and competition Ryan Mallett. An understandable decision, but also one that is going to be severely tested right out of the gate.
Memories are still fresh of Hoyer struggling in Cleveland, and he’ll have to get it going against a Kansas City Chiefs team that boasts one of the best defenses in the league. If that weren’t hard enough, he’ll have to do it without Arian Foster. This game could extinguish or re-ignite the quarterback controversy just that fast.
