The Cincinnati Bengals and wide receiver A.J. Green have reportedly agreed to a 4-year extension worth $60 million. Because Green had another year on his original contract, the total deal was completely restructured. The extension is for four years at $60 million. The total deal is five years at $70 million. The 27-year old receiver was drafted in the first round with the fourth overall pick back in 2011. The Bengals reportedly wanted the deal done by their first game of the season, which could lead to a bigger upfront payday for Green than anticipated. The extensions value would tie Green with Mike Wallace in total contract dollars at sixth overall. The total five-year deal would place him amongst the likes of Dez Bryant.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the details of Green’s new deal, while the Enquirer’s Jim Owczarski first reported the deal’s finalization.

In his first four years with the Bengals, Green has been producing highlight reel catches at an incredible rate. He’s earned four consecutive Pro Bowl selections and was ranked the 37th player in the NFL’s Top 100 rankings for 2015. Green has accounted for 35 touchdowns, 4,879 yards and 329 catches. His pronounced juggling hobby has led to some of those incredible catches we have grown to love.

Green isn’t the only player getting a big deal leading into the season. This morning the Giants and Eli Manning agreed to a four-year deal, while yesterday the Panthers made Luke Kuechly the highest paid inside linebacker ever. Wide receiver Jarius Wright, Jets Marcel Darius, and Colts tackle Anthony Castonzo also received a nice payday heading into the new season.
