We knew it was coming. The decision on “DeflateGate” has arrived — we just weren’t sure exactly what it’d be. Tom Brady, in the eyes of the NFL, cheated. Today, however, the take was different. Judge Berman disagreed. Now, Brady is free (by NFL standards). Roger Goodell, the decision has been made.

So 1 week from tonight: Tom Brady takes the field for the Patriots vs. the Steelers. The NFL season begins.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 3, 2015
Perhaps the last tweet, from Field Yates of ESPN, puts it best.
After everything that has happened over the past seven months, nothing changes. Tom Brady doesn’t receive any punishment, and will take the field seamlessly against the Pittsburgh Steelers next Thursday.
Here’s our staff’s rapid reaction to the news:
George Stockburger: “What another black eye for the NFL and Goodell.”
Sayre Bedinger: “This is such a joke.”
Shawn Spencer: “This is what Goodell gets for making up the rules as he goes.”
Erik Lambert: “Cheaters always prosper in the NFL.”
It’s clear what our guys think — probably representative of what the rest of the NFL fanbase thinks, sans Pats fans.
It sure is a bit baffling. Based on the Wells Report, it’d be hard to say that Brady didn’t at-least have knowledge of the happenings that took place in the AFC Championship game — it seemed almost guaranteed.
However, the decision has been made. “Free Brady” has become a reality.
Tom Brady is undefeated in 2015.
