5. Daryl Williams, OL
Out of left field, Daryl Williams (a rookie out of Oklahoma) has led the Panthers this preseason at any position in Pro Football Focus grade, and is making a case to be a starter this season on an offensive line that is very much in transition. Williams is an excellent player who excelled at Oklahoma, but I don’t know if anyone could have predicted he’d be this successful early on with the Panthers.
In fact, he’s showed out well enough that he’s received some left tackle reps after primarily playing backup RT in camp. If Williams continues to develop rapidly, the Panthers will have an excellent value on their hands.
He’s well on his way. We’re excited to see him play against the Patriots and could see him both at LT and RT.
