Dallas Cowboys: Stay Calm Over Orlando Scandrick Injury

Every year, teams deal with unexpected injuries to their top players, and the 2015 NFL season is no different. We have already seen players like Jordy Nelson and Kelvin Benjamin go down to season ending knee injuries this past week, and now you can add one more to that list in Orlando Scandrick.

Though this injury to the Dallas Cowboys’ top cornerback on the roster does hurt the team to a certain degree, it means next man up at the cornerback position. Along with other Dallas Cowboys analysts and experts, I’m very confident in the fact that if the Cowboys were going to lose a player at any certain position, I would’ve liked it to be at the cornerback position due to the depth available on the current roster.

So who is going to step in for Scandrick? I don’t know, but what I do know is that there are several talented, young cornerbacks on this roster like Morris Claiborne, Corey White, Tyler Patmon, and first round selection out of Connecticut, Byron Jones. I understand how big of a blow this could potentially be, but I do think some analysts are blowing this out of proportion when they say that they need to address the position via a veteran free agent, or a trade of all things. In my opinion, the Dallas Cowboys have enough depth and talent at the cornerback position to be dealt TWO major injuries to this position so I believe the Cowboys will be just fine in finding someone from their own camp.

If I had to give out a prediction today of who starts Week One against New York, I couldn’t tell you, but what I can tell you is that one of these young cornerbacks is chomping at the bit to get an opportunity to crack the starting lineup and prove why the Dallas Cowboys can still put out a good defense even without Orlando Scandrick.
