That Lovie Smith defense looks like its back
During his time in Chicago, there was no defense in the NFL better at creating turnovers than the one Lovie Smith put into practice. Now entering their second season in his scheme, it looks like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are ready to remind everybody just how effective it can be when done right. The Bengals learned that the hard way when they threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown and also lost a fumble in just the first half. It was keyed by the defensive line, which collected three sacks in that span.
Jameis Winston will get plenty of help on offense this year, but it might be the extra chances afforded by that defense that pushes this team out of the NFC cellar and back to respectability.
