Sean Renfree is in line to swipe backup quarterback job
Backup quarterback may not look important to a lot of teams, but that could be different for the Atlanta Falcons. Their running game is still a mess and the offensive line has looked less than stellar in pass protection as well. Matt Ryan is tremendous at avoiding big hits but even he can’t escape them all. It only takes one to put a guy down. That’s why the Falcons should have special interest in their backup competition.
T.J. Yates holds the job for the moment but third-stringer Sean Renfree has begun to gain on him with each passing week. Two weeks in a row he has moved the offense well, completing over 70% of his passes while Yates has struggled. Atlanta may feel compelled to make a switch soon.
