Bengals vs. Buccaneers: Paul Dawson highlights 2nd half

In case you missed the 2nd half of the Bengals vs. Buccaneers on Monday Night Football on ESPN, we’ve got you covered.

Bucs 25, Bengals 11

You didn’t miss a whole lot. Here are some of my observations from the 2nd half…

Bengals offense picked it up…late

It wasn’t until around the 2-minute warning of the fourth quarter that the Bengals’ offense got itself on the board with a James Wilder touchdown and 2-point conversion. The former Florida State star was actually really good on the drive, picking up the team’s only touchdown after a pitiful night offensively.

It was really the lone highlight on offense for the Bengals on the night. Tampa Bay controlled this game from start to finish and Wilder’s inspired play was at least reason for the fans to pay attention.

Paul Dawson looked great

If you were reading some certain draft analysts prior to the event itself, you would have thought Paul Dawson was undraftable. The reigning Big 12 defensive player of the year made some plays in the 2nd half that had people reminiscing about his days at TCU. I heard the ESPN announcers call him PJ Dawson, too, so I guess that’s a thing. Anyway, Dawson knifed through the line on a Buccaneers goal line series on fourth down for a big stop, and it was great.

And then, there was this —

It was an excellent game for Dawson, who finished with four tackles on the night and perhaps gained some trust from the coaches for some more playing time when the regular season rolls around.
