Eagles v. Ravens: Second Half Observations
Final Score: Eagles 40 – Ravens 17
Tebow is Still Tebow
Tonight was a classic Tim Tebow performance. Holding onto the ball too long. Taking sacks. Not connecting with open receivers. But the key factor isn’t Tebow’s arm; its his legs. While his rushing touchdown was called back, he had a couple long runs that show fans what he could do in the redzone package. Taking Bradford off the field on short yardage plays where he is more exposed is key for Chip Kelly, so it would behoove them to keep Tebow.
Bryn Renner Looked Solid, Competed Well with Schaub
With a 15-21 stat line, Renner looked solid through out the game. Got the ball out quickly and drove the team (when there weren’t penalties hindering them). Tenner had the only two passing touchdowns for the Ravens, making a solid case that he could stick around for the future.
Kip Smith Who?
Chip Kelly decided to have fun with the score as high as it was. He let his starting kicker Cody Parkey warm the bench while Kip Smith (who?) got the chance to kick some field goals and extra points for the Eagles. For some reason, Smith hits knuckle balls that don’t really spin when he connects. Every kick he made was ugly, but through the uprights. Just an interesting story in an excellent, overall game.
The Ravens Penalties Continued to Rack Up
Seventeen total penalties for the Ravens, eight in the second half. A total of 139 yards lost, which will surely drive Harbaugh nuts during upcoming team meetings.
Lack of Injuries
Both teams (thankfully) came out of this game mostly unscathed. Great news for both teams who have for the most part been lucky so far in camp.
