The NFL preseason may not mean much to player who know they’re starting, but for backups around the league it is the one opportunity they get all season to showcase their talent in hopes of becoming starters too. No position makes that clearer than the quarterbacks. Several around the league are surrounded by expectations for possibly taking over a team in the near future. Did any of them take advantage?
Stock Up: Brock Osweiler
The Denver Broncos invested a 2nd round pick in Brock Osweiler for a reason. They felt he could eventually become the heir apparent once Peyton Manning was ready to hang up the cleats. Most felt this preseason would be his chance to show that he’s learned the game as a pro and wants to become a starter, if not for the Broncos than another team.
It’s hard to argue with his first salvo. Osweiler went into Seattle and after a slow start put together a strong, efficient performance that included hitting 15-of-20 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.
A good start for sure and just what he needs to build confidence towards his final goal.
