#1: Frank Gore: “The Inconvenient Truth“
The greatness of this nickname is two-fold. It’s topical, having come on the coattails of the Academy Award-winning documentary titled “An Inconvenient Truth” created by former vice president Al Gore. The sharing of the last names is the primary reason Frank Gore earned his tag while with the San Francisco 49ers.
That and becoming the best running back in franchise history and one of the best in the NFL. Another part of why the nickname is so fantastic is the simple title. Teams that went into games knowing they had to face Gore behind that big 49ers front were literally faced with The Inconvenient Truth that they weren’t going to stop him.
Gore has never averaged fewer than 4.1 yards per carry in his career, missed the 1,000-yard mark just twice in 10 seasons and scored 75 touchdowns.
