St. Louis Rams: Todd Gurley Enters Camp on Active Roster
St. Louis Rams fans are finally seeing the light. The team announced Tuesday afternoon that first round pick Todd Gurley will not be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) and will start camp on the teams’ active roster. Rams camp opens on July 31st, with the running back Gurley ready and able to fully practice and compete. Fans did not expect to see Gurley ready this early, but his ACL rehab has apparently gone well enough for him to start camp.

The Rams selected Gurley with the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Georgia. The former Bulldog was a college superstar at the running back position until he injured his ACL, ending his college career against Auburn. He finished his three year college career with nearly 3,300 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns. The pick shocked (but excited) most college and NFL fans, due to the teams need at receiver, the offensive line and secondary positions. The running backs injury certainly hindered his draft stock, but his rehab and strength progression impressed the Rams enough to take the risk.
The Rams enter camp with new Quarterback Nick Foles taking snaps from under center. At the running back position, the Rams carry Gurley, Tre Mason, Benny Cunningham, and undrafted free agent Malcolm Brown from Texas. A healthy Gurley is expected to be the heavy favorite to win the starting job in training camp.
