QUARTERBACKS

Arguably the biggest mistake Scot McCloughan ever made occurred at quarterback when he bypassed California product Aaron Rodgers in favor of Utah upstart Alex Smith in the 2005 NFL draft.  Smith struggled for years in San Francisco and has just one playoff win in his career.  Rodgers is a two-time MVP with a Super Bowl ring.

If there was a lesson in there, it’s that leadership is great, but arm talent and accuracy often decide who reaches the postseason at the position.
