Fantasy Football Draft Strategies: Auction Drafts on a Budget

facebooktwitterreddit

While I’m personally not an Auction draft fanatic, many love the opportunity to stack their team with two top five running backs or a deadly wide receiver combo. By doing that, you can quickly exhaust all of your allotted budget, usually $200 in ESPN Auction Drafts. This article helps you build a successful fantasy football team for under $30 a player.

Quarterback: Tom Brady, $3

I wish I had gotten him at only a dollar, but to get a starter of his quality this cheap was a nice pick-up.

Running Back: Alfred Morris, $29

  • Morris is another guy I felt I got a solid deal on. A run-heavy system with some fresh interior lineman? Yes please

    Running Back: Carlos Hyde, $22

While his offensive line is slightly more depleted, he’s the head guy in 2015 and was another good value pick

    Wide Receiver: T.Y. Hilton, $30

I pushed to my limit with Hilton. If you can get a top five quarterbacks’ favorite toy at thirty dollars, you got a nice add

    Wide Receiver: Mike Evans, $27

You cant knock how much his size helps him get those redzone touchdows. Loved this value

    Tight End: Jimmy Graham, $28

Pushed myself to take Graham and almost passed on him, but he’s the number one option in Seattle’s holster right now

    D/ST: Eagles, $1

For as many special teams touchdowns the Eagles score, this is another terrific value pick

    K: Cody Parkey, $1

As a noted Eagles fan, Cody Parkey became somewhat of a savior after suffering with Alex Henery. Very accurate kicker with a strong leg

    Bench: Nelson Agholor, $8

He’s every thing you want in a receiver. Decent speed, good route runner, reliable hands. A nice backup to keep an eye out for

    Bench: Teddy Bridgewater, $1

With Brady out for a while, getting a decent QB2 was key. Bridgewater will only improve as he grows in the NFL

    Bench: Zach Ertz, $2

    More from Fantasy Football

Ertz will get you as many yards as a $20 tight end. A sneaky pickup who could start for several fantasy teams

    Bench: DeAngelo Williams: $3

Williams will get the carries when Bell is out on suspension. A nice late round add

    Bench: Percy Harvin, $2

Harvin was a luxury hit or miss pick. Whether he can keep his head clear and stay injury free is on him. For two dollars, you might get that super-star we’re used to seeing

    Bench: Davante Adams, $2

Any Aaron Rodgers target is a friend of mine. Considered Adams another luxury pick that I kept away from someone else’s team.

    Bench: Duke Johnson, $1

Whether or not he wins a job in Cleveland, Duke Johnson is a name to hold onto for a while. One of the most electric college players from last year on my bench, heck yea!

    Remaining Budget: $27

I obviously had more to splurge, but having that extra budget left at the end is always nice. You can grab those value picks away from people who have $5 left in all. Overall, I’m pleased with my team. Could have varied some bye weeks, but not bad for working on a hard-set budget.
