I don’t know how the Cowboys would work this out financially, but teams always seem to find a way. The Cowboys could offer the Vikings a 2016 first round pick, and it would be really tough for Minnesota to turn down.
Why would the Cowboys offer that much for a 30-year old back with a massive contract? Well, first of all, they are almost playing with house money after getting three first round (top 25, even) graded players in this year’s draft when they took Byron Jones, Randy Gregory, and La’El Collins. There’s certainly an element of risk involved, but running back just so happens to remain the Cowboys’ biggest need.
They played chicken with the Vikings in this year’s draft, and it paid off. Now, they could get Peterson and all three of those players that were probably in the upper half of their board.
Adrian Peterson behind this Dallas Cowboys offensive line would be terrifying for the rest of the NFL.
