Right Tackle:  Doug Free vs. Chaz Green

The spearhead of the success on offense for the Cowboys last season was their offensive line, rated among the best in the NFL.  However, even it isn’t without its question marks.  Right tackle is certainly that area.  The return of veteran Doug Free would have one believe it’s a moot point, but that was until Dallas tabbed Florida tackle Chaz Green in the 3rd round of the draft.  He was probably overshadowed by teammate D.J. Humphries, but Green has good footwork and technique for tackle.  His strength is questionable, but if he can put on a good show in training camp, he may steal the job from Free.

Defensive End:  Jeremy Mincey vs. Randy Gregory

No position is going to be more interesting to watch throughout training camp and the preseason for Dallas Cowboys fans than defensive end.  It’s about as wide open as it gets.  On the right side, veteran Jeremy Mincey played the most snaps and collected the most sacks and pressures of any end on the roster.

Even so he’ll have to contend with the arrival of Randy Gregory, a supremely talented kid from Nebraska who brings a lot of controversy with him having dropped out of the 1st round due to drug and character concerns.  If he keeps his head on straight and takes to the coaching of Rod Marinelli, he has what it takes to start Day 1.
