What’s the price of moving up for Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota? Well, if the Tennessee Titans read this article, it might go up even further.

According to this report by Mark Eckel of NJ.com, the rumor floating around among some NFL personnel meetings is a possible three-team trade involving the Eagles, Titans, and Browns, centered around the 2nd overall pick, Sam Bradford, and Eagles defensive studs Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks.

This comes about a week after reports that the Eagles might be willing to trade Kendricks.

It seems like a steep price to pay for the Eagles, but it sounds like trading up to the 2nd overall pick would cost them Sam Bradford, Mychal Kendricks, Fletcher Cox, and their own first round pick. Here’s essentially what the rumored trade looks like.

On the surface, this trade seems extremely unrealistic from the Eagles’ perspective. Giving up that much to go up and get Marcus Mariota seems like too steep a price to pay, even for Chip Kelly, who loves Mariota more than probably any other coach or GM in this draft.

One thing is certain, however — the Eagles don’t appear set on Bradford as their starting quarterback of the future until they absolutely have to be. It might seem like a bunch of conspiracy, but things like the fact that the Eagles Pro Shop isn’t selling Bradford jerseys lead people to believe that he won’t be there much longer.

Perhaps Bradford believes that as well.

It’s entirely possible that Kendricks believes it as well, because he’s been absent thus far from team activities this offseason. If Kendricks is to be traded, the time is now, because it’s the final year of his contract. The same is true for Fletcher Cox, though trading either or both of those guys would significantly hinder any chance at even a division title for Philly.

This trade makes a lot of sense for all involved parties as long as the Eagles are willing to give up whatever it takes to get Mariota. If they don’t want to give up the star players required, this might be a good bargaining point for the Titans to start with, so they can get the most value possible for the pick if they are even interested in trading down.

I am not so sure they would be at this point, because it seems more and more likely now that they would just prefer to take Mariota themselves and start fresh with a top, young QB.

If this trade went down, it would add to one of the most incredibly interesting offseasons we have seen in some time. Chip Kelly certainly has a plan, and he’s not afraid to blow things up on the path to whatever end he sees in sight to it.
