Most of the big-time matchups have likely been covered already. So what are some possible sleeper games fans can look forward to in the 2015 NFL schedule?
Week 3: Kansas City Chiefs @ Green Bay Packers
There is nothing like watching a game between two teams who are polar opposites. Andy Reid brings his Kansas City Chiefs, known for their power running game and suffocating defense into Lambeau Field against Aaron Rodgers and that dynamite Green Bay Packers passing attack. The Chiefs have made a habit lately of beating elite teams as they did New England and Seattle last year. Could they make the Pack their latest victim?
Week 6: Arizona Cardinals @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Sure, it’s the juicy subplots people are used to but this game will have a stark sense of déjà vu attached to it. It’s a rematch of Super Bowl XLIII with a number of the key players still involved like Larry Fitzgerald and Ben Roethlisberger. Beyond that the Arizona Cardinals are once again led by a former Pittsburgh Steelers disciple in Bruce Arians. If he can keep his quarterbacks healthy, this has a chance to turn into another fun contest between unlikely rivals.
Week 11: Denver Broncos @ Chicago Bears
On paper this is a mismatch with the 12-4 Denver Broncos likely expected to handle their business against a Chicago Bears team that finished 5-11. However, that Bears team has undergone some changes, particularly at the top. Their new head coach John Fox has a knack for quick turnaround. The Broncos should know since he did it for them back in 2011. Make no mistake. Fox may not hold any animosity but once can bet he’ll have his team ready to get him some revenge on the franchise that kicked him to the curb.
Week 16: St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks
How many people are already penciling in the Cardinals and 49ers as likely foils to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West? They better be careful because it finally seems like the St. Louis Rams are poised to stake their own claim on the division. These two teams have more history than people realize and have waged some physical battles the past couple seasons. With Nick Foles in town and a talent-laden roster, Jeff Fisher may finally have the horses to make a run at Pete Carroll and his crew. This game could very well decide who goes to the playoffs.
Week 17: Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants
First of all, anytime there are stakes in the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants rivalry, it makes for must-see TV. Beyond that, there are reasons to think the NFC East could come down to either team. Both have improved during the off-season while Dallas, though still strong, lost a key component in DeMarco Murray. Eli Manning will have arguably the best offense of his Giants career around him while the Eagles may finally have a quarterback Chip Kelly actually likes in Sam Bradford. Prepare for offensive fireworks to close out the 2015 NFL schedule.
