2014 Eagles Tight End Depth Chart: Zach Ertz, Brent Celek, James Casey

2015 Eagles Tight End Depth Chart: Zach Ertz, Brent Celek, Trey Burton

The Eagles tight end depth chart is virtually unchanged from last year to this year, but the Eagles definitely need to get more production out of their top tight end prospect.

Since he was drafted in 2013, Ertz has been billed as the next great receiving tight end. And while he has been good at times, Ertz has yet to live up to that billing.

Ertz didn’t see the snaps that everyone thought he would last season because his blocking was still very suspect last season, making him more of a situational player. This is the year for Ertz to live up the hype that Eagles fans have heard about for the last two seasons, especially with the Eagles lack of front end talent at receiver.

Brent Celek had another great year for the Eagles. While his numbers don’t jump off the screen, he is a very complete tight end and an invaluable member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Chip Kelly loves to use him as a blocker, and why not, he is very good at it. He helps provide the Eagles quarterbacks with plenty of time to throw the ball and opens up holes for their backs in the running game. Celek is also an effective receiver and is above average after the catch for a tight end.

Grade: B+ ~ The Eagles have a very good receiving corps, but they will need Ertz to really step up this year and be a consistent threat in the passing game.
