NFL Free Agency: OG Clint Boling, Bengals Close to Deal
According to reports, free agent offensive lineman Clint Boling, is close to signing a new contract to return to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015.
Here’s the report from Geoff Hobson on Twitter, who says the Bengals are ‘closing in’ on re-signing their young guard.
Our resident offensive line expert Charles McDonald (@NFLDraftWhiz) had this to say about Boling in the pre-free agency period and what you can expect from him going forward.
“Clint Boling is one of the most underrated players in the NFL. He struggled a little to begin the season, but after the midway point he played lights out football and showed why he’s one of the top guards in the league. The former Georgia Bulldog blasted open huge running lanes for Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard — he was an integral piece for Cincinnati’s offensive line. Boling will only be 26 at the start of the 2015 season — a team can offer him a long term deal and not worry about his age being a factor during the contract.”

This is a great re-signing for the Bengals, who are reportedly also pursuing Nick Fairly in free agency. Getting back Boling is a great fit for their offensive line and this was an absolutely necessary move, as Boling was one of the top free agents left yet on the market for offensive linemen.
GRADE: B+
This isn’t a mind-blowing signing by the Bengals, but a necessary one, so I give them an above average grade. If they didn’t re-sign Boling, they were going to have an interesting situation at left guard so getting him back is a big deal.
