NFL Trade Machine: Rams, Titans In on Nick Foles?

facebooktwitterreddit

In this edition of NFL Trade Machine, we explore the possibility of Nick Foles being traded to either the St. Louis Rams or Tennessee Titans. Rumors are surrounding the “Twitterverse” that the Eagles want to move Foles — could a trade be in the near future for either one of these two teams?

For the Eagles, It’s Simple

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise for any Philadelphia Eagles fan. Nick Foles had his short, quiet run in Philadelphia, but it’s time for the Eagles to look elsewhere at the quarterback spot.

Rumor has it the team is interested in Marcus Mariota, but recent reports have listed Colin Kaepernick as a potential option. Either way, it’s not a surprise that the Eagles want to deal their once “near perfect” quarterback.

St. Louis Rams

When looking at the whole picture, you could just say “what does this team have to lose”? In all honesty, the Rams could make this move and potentially leapfrog themselves to the near the top of the NFC West discussion.

Many have thought that St. Louis was one piece away from making a run to playoffs; if they make this move and bring in other young superstars, why should we discount them from making a run?

It’s not a foolproof move, but it’s certainly one that should be explored.

Tennessee Titans

Marcus Mariota could be the pick at #2, but it’s clear that the Eagles are interested in the former Oregon QB.

It’s becoming at-least somewhat clear that one of these three teams is going to get Mariota. That is, of course, if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers don’t make a last-second run and ditch Jameis Winston.

Foles to Tennessee might actually be the safest thing they could pull off. He’s played in this league a bit and still has a good future ahead of him. Unlike Mariota, Foles can currently be looked at as a potential cornerstone of the franchise if given a full, lengthy chance.

Nothing is set in stone, but it’s certainly looking like one of these three teams will get Mariota, one will have Foles, and the other stuck in limbo.
