Does Leonard Williams to the Tennessee Titans Make Sense?
By Joe Wedra
Despite the many projections that have the Tennessee Titans taking a quarterback in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, it may DT Leonard Williams that becomes the pick with the second overall selection.
Sure, one could make the argument that Tennessee has to figure out the quarterback position, but reports have leaned towards the suggestion that they’ll give former LSU QB Zach Mettenberger a season to attempt to cement himself as a legitimate starter in the NFL.

If that’s the case, defense must be a priority.
Allowing over 135 yards per game and 17 total touchdowns against the run in 2014, Tennessee fans are asking for defensive front help in a major way.
With well-documented issues on the front seven — particularly the defensive line — the Titans will be targeting a major piece that they can build the future of Ray Horton’s defense around.
Enter Leonard Williams.
The former USC catalyst will be taken in the first round; it appears the Titans at 2nd overall are the first option for Williams’ potential landing spot. If they decide to pass, he shouldn’t last past Oakland at 4.
As seen in the video above, Williams essentially has the versatility and talent to be considered the best prospect in this class at any position. His raw skills can’t be denied, neither can his size, strength and agility combination.
If Tennessee is serious about keeping Mettenberger, the most important thing to do is attempting to give him the most opportunities to be on the field. Not only can Williams provide talent in the middle of an NFL defense, he can change games with the blink of an eye.
It’s safe to say you can see that just a bit when you turn on his college tape.
As far as “team fit” goes, Tennessee certainly looks like the perfect fit. With uncertainty and injury concerns up the middle, the Titans will undoubtedly have defensive tackle circled as a major need on their draft board.
If the stars align, Williams could be penciled in the blue and white before April 30th rolls around.
