PREVIEW

Although it’s lost a bit of entertainment through the years, the Pro Bowl is doing the best it can to reel you in. The festivities started on Wednesday night on NFL Network as Irvin and Carter took the stage to select their teams. You can find full rosters here. Here are a few highlights from the “draft”:

  • Team Irvin selected every Dallas Cowboys player in the 2015 NFL Pro Bowl.
  • Andy Dalton (Team Carter), who got in after Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco opted out as an alternate due to the birth of his third child.
  • Team Irvin was able to stash TEs Jimmy Graham and Jason Witten — Carter got Martellus Bennett and Greg Olsen.

BROADCAST NOTES

The folks over at Awful Announcing published a list of on-air features that ESPN will have in 2015. Here are a few interesting notes this year:

"Players wearing microphones"

"In-game coaches audio and from coach-quarterback communication"

"Live talk-backs with alumni captains Cris Carter and Michael Irvin"

"Aerial coverage via Spidercam"

"Next-gen NFL stats applications"

"Inside the locker room access"

"Sideline interviews with [Lisa] Salters"

"Special booth appearance by comedian/impersonator Frank Caliendo"

Whether or not you’ll want to tune in due to these new features or not — well, we’ll leave that up to you.

The “draft”  format hasn’t been very popular with fans throughout the past two years. Can 2015’s Carter/Irvin pairing help give the league’s “pre-Super Bowl classic” a boost?
