NFL Trade Machine: Bucs May Want To Move Mike Glennon

Barring a sudden shift in the pecking order, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely end up with a top 5 pick in the NFL draft next April. That puts them in prime position to solve the main issue for their offense which is quarterback. Veteran Josh McCown just hasn’t been able to get things going for a variety of reasons. Most feel it’s time for a change and this coming draft is their best opportunity.

There is one loose end however that remains. What will the Bucs do with Mike Glennon?

The 2013 third round pick out of N.C. State has been an on-and-off starter for them the past two seasons. Constant upheaval at head coach hasn’t helped his development but in the midst of the chaos he’s actually posted very intriguing numbers. In 19 total games he has 4,025 passing yards with 29 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Not great but surprisingly good. In fact, several prominent draft experts indicated last year that Glennon could make the case as the best quarterback to come out of his class.

They may be right. He had the second most passing yards and most touchdown passes among his peers in 2013 and is third in passing yards and second in touchdowns despite throwing the third-fewest passes. The point is that Glennon has something in him that hasn’t been properly nurtured and should interest other teams as possible trade bait.
