2015 NFL Draft Rankings: Quarterbacks Top-5 Update
By Joe Wedra
I’m back to update my top-5 quarterbacks in these 2015 NFL Draft rankings. In the last edition, I had listed Marcus Mariota at the top spot, with Jameis Winston just behind. Some things have changed, with new faces in the top-5.
5: Bryce Petty, Baylor
Previously at #5
Nothing new to see here. Petty may not have had the season many had hoped for, but I still see his skills as being worthy of a draft pick. Due to the weakness of the class, I still don’t see Petty being any higher than a 4th round pick. The skills are still there, but major flaws still show up on the 23-year-old’s film.
4. Garrett Grayson, Colorado State
Previously out of top-5
Here’s a guy that is going to climb up boards as we approach Draft Day. Grayson shows fantastic intermediate accuracy, with nice flashes on his deep ball. It’s yet to be seen if he can be elite with defenders in his face, but the skills are there to keep him on the radar as a potential late second-day pick. NFL teams will love his ability to complete passes (65.0% completion percentage) and sound mechanics.

3. Connor Cook, Michigan State
Previously out of the top-5
I’m still believing that he is going to declare. The talent drop-off after Cook is clear, something he has to realize. There’s going to be serious first-round consideration by NFL teams if he decides to make the jump to the NFL. I think of Cook as a second-round guy but the lack of talent at the QB spot in the NFL should trump anything else, a reason why he could go in the first.
2. Jameis Winston, Florida State
Previously at #3
I dropped Brett Hundley off the board, giving Winston a leap to the second spot.
We all know what Winston brings to the table. The only thing that can potentially drop him will be the first-half flaws on his tape in 2014.
1. Marcus Mariota, Oregon
Mr. Mariota holds the top spot yet again, something that shouldn’t change throughout the next several months. With 38 TDs and just two interceptions on the 2014 season, Mariota has made everyone a believer in what he can potentially do in the NFL.
