NFL Bold Predictions: Week 10 Upsets
By Joe Wedra
In this edition of NFL Bold Predictions we’ll take a look at some potential upsets around the NFL. Last week was pretty even-keeled, but I expect this week to have some significant upset-alert storylines.
Miami Dolphins win big against Detroit Lions?
It’s hard to not love what Ryan Tannehill is doing in Miami. He’s building a nice relationship with each one of his receivers, and the game plans have been tremendous all year. Everything seems to be coming together – something that isn’t the case for the Lions. Detroit has been good, but they’ve struggled on offense all season. It appears Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush may be healthy for Sunday, but it’s hard not to like the Dolphins here.
Prediction: Miami pulls the road upset, 29-23.
New York Jets stop Pittsburgh Steelers, Big Ben from setting more records?
Sure, anybody that actually bets on the Jets for this one needs to re-evaluate their football thoughts. However, how can the Jets start their year 1-9? They need a big win, and it seems to be the right time for a little “pick-me-up”. Michael Vick will get the starting nod after another full week of practice. The Steelers have been riding a high, but it can’t last forever. This game has the potential to produce some shocked Steeler fans by Sunday night.
Prediction: Jets win with Vick’s athleticism, 28-24.
Chicago Bears force Aaron Rodgers to pull the “relax” quote back out?
The Bears have been one of the biggest disappointments of the season and it all starts with coach Marc Trestman. The path he has this team on is a bad one. His coaching style combined with Jay Cutler’s struggles give me no hope to pick the Bears in this one, but it just feels right. NFC North matchups are pretty special in that heavily-favored teams can get demolished on any given week. If the Packer defense gives Chicago some room to run up the middle and allows Cutler’s offense to have a nice balance, the Bears have a chance.
Prediction: Bears squeak by the Packers in OT, 31-28.
