Jarvis Landry: Miami Dolphins WR For Rookie of the Year?

It’s a long shot, but if Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry continues his trend of getting a whole lot better every time he takes the field, he might have a chance to make a late-season run at the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award on the offensive side of the football for his play at the receiver spot.

After starting slow, we’re beginning to see Landry receive a lot more targets from QB Ryan Tannehill. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, he was able to haul in six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.

The former LSU Tiger is playing extremely well, and might have a trend going if he keeps his dominance up. He’s tucked back a bit in the depth chart, but he could see some significant time if Tannehill’s comfort with the rookie grows.

Here are a few other candidates to watch that have started the season strong. To keep up with Landry, they’ll have to continue a steady pace for a chance at the award at the end.

Kelvin Benjamin is doing some pretty special things with the Carolina Panthers, and should be considered a front-runner. He’s quickly becoming a very nice third-down threat in the NFC South.

Zack Martin has been highly-touted for his play with the Dallas Cowboys this year. While I haven’t studied him this season, he’s a name to watch.

Sammy Watkins has been dealt a tough hand with the quarterback situation with the Buffalo Bills, but his production has been expected coming out of Clemson. Look for him to continue his success if he stays healthy.
