NFL Predictions: Eagles vs. 49ers, Nick Foles’ Bad Day?
By Joe Wedra
In this edition of NFL Predictions we take a look at the Eagles vs. 49ers game and see how the top players might perform. This game could end up meaning a lot for the 49ers season and they’ll need every bit of help from the running game to get the big win. Can they do it?
Without further ado, here are a few predictions before one of Sunday’s best games.
Nick Foles: 22-33, 229 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
Foles won’t have a terrible day, but this seems to be the kind of game he takes one too many chances. The 49ers secondary is desperate for a big outing. I can see Foles forcing too many passes in a close game late, helping San Francisco get a much-needed win.
Colin Kaepernick: 19-29, 197 yards, TD
This shouldn’t be a flashy game for Kaepernick, but he’s going to do enough to get the job done at home. Look for him to manage the game just enough to let the running game handle much of the load. His touchdown could be on a play-action, goal-line rollout (bonus prediction).
49ers running game: over 200 yards, 2 TDs
This won’t be a huge game for Frank Gore – he’ll do enough, however, to help the 49ers secure a win. This game is Carlos Hyde’s time to prove to the NFL what he can be at this level. He tore it up at Ohio State, and I think you’re going to see flashes of that against the Eagles defense.
LeSean McCoy: 100+ yards, 2 TD
It’s been a bit of a tough go for McCoy this year. His wheels have been missing for most of the year, but I think he’ll get it going against the 49ers. Look for Darren Sproles to have a good game too, but this is McCoy’s show.
FINAL SCORE: 35-31, Eagles win
Look for a Foles interception to prove costly in this one.
