Thursday Night Football: Giants vs. Redskins Predictions
By Joe Wedra
It’s time for another edition of Thursday Night Football tonight, as the Giants vs. Redskins game looks to be a crucial early-season NFC East clash. The NFL – the NFC in particular – is full of wild card contenders. Watch out for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins to be fighting until the last few weeks for one of those spots.
Without further ado, here are some Thursday Night Football predictions to get your ready for the big game.
Eli Manning: 17-23, 195 yards, TD, INT
I don’t expect Manning to have a bad game, I just believe in the running game too much to give Eli elite numbers tonight. I think he’ll do a decent job, but I think Rashad Jennings (see below) will have an incredible night, taking the ball out of Manning’s hands just a bit. Look for Rueben Randle to be a sleeper in Fantasy Football.
Kirk Cousins: 22-29, 267 yards, 2 TD
I like Cousins and I expect him to have a pretty nice game tonight. The Redskins have averaged over 300 yards per game passing early in 2014 thanks to a few nice receiving options lined up outside. Cousins should have a fun night against a Giants pass defense that is giving up 8.5 yards per pass this year – second worst to just the Tampa Bay Bucs who were shredded by Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons last Thursday.
Rashad Jennings: 27 carries, 113 yards, TD
I was a huge doubter in Jennings heading into the season, but I’m happy to say he proved me wrong. This guy has getting plenty of touches, and last week he lit up the Texans defense for 176 yards on 34 touches. Look for him to run wild on the Redskins tonight.
Alfred Morris: 19 carries, 88 yards, 2 TD
I’m a huge believer in what Washington is doing with their ground game this season. They have nice depth to allow Morris to stay fresh. When he does take the field, he just churns out yardage like no one’s business. Look for a productive night from Morris in this game.
SLEEPER TO WATCH: Niles Paul, WR, Redskins
Who? Niles Paul? The guy that has 24 targets in just three games this year?
Yeah, that Niles Paul.
Paul has filled in nicely for Jordan Reed at the tight end spot. He’s had over 65 yards in each of his three games this year, and I expect that to continue tonight. Put him down for at-least 4 grabs and a TD.
