The San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals are set to take each other on for another installment of Monday Night football, and this divisional matchup has some potential to be a very impactful game down the road.
The 49ers absolutely need to win this game, but the Cardinals are reeling a bit right now and are looking for a big win on their home field. Despite the inconsistencies at the quarterback position for both teams, these two are vying for the opportunity to take over first place in the NFC West. Here is a fantasy football preview for the game, which I said would be won by the 49ers, but I’m feeling less confident by the minute.
Fantasy Studs
Frank Gore, RB, 49ers
Gore is the bell-cow for the Niners. He is a dominant running back, potentially, who will carry the load for this team. The Niners will especially be relying upon him tonight to be a big contributor, because Arizona’s defense is stingy. If you have Gore, you have to start him every week he is active.
Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals
No matter who he is going up against, Fitzgerald is a dominant receiver. He knows how to find a way to get open, and he knows how to find the end zone. Despite the dominance of San Francisco’s defense, you can’t be worried about Fitz getting you points on a weekly basis.
Good Starts
Vernon Davis, TE, 49ers
Davis is a top-tier tight end, and I think the Niners will have to make big plays in the passing game to win this one. Can Davis be the guy to produce tonight? I think he is in line for some decent production.
Michael Crabtree, WR, 49ers
Crabtree can make plays, and he’s one of the featured players in the San Francisco offense. If he gets hot, Alex Smith will find him often and Crabtree will put up a lot of points.
LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB, Cardinals
The Niners have given up the least amount of points to RBs this season, so LSH is a tough play tonight. BUT, if you need him, he might not be a bad idea to throw in there. He saw some meaningful touches against the Vikings last week, and could be the team’s featured back tonight.
