Round 2

1. Indianapolis Colts                   Alfonzo Dennard       CB           Nebraska

Now that the Colts have acquired Luck they need to go to the strategy that talent and not need is paramount.  This team is bad and talent is needed mostly everywhere.  Dennard would give the Colts a good young CB who is very physical and a big time steal at this point  in theft dra.

2. Miami Dolphins                 Ronnell Lewis          DE/OLB    Oklahoma

Dolphins have not sacked the QB nearly enough this season.  Problem is besides Wake they lack another pass rusher.  Lewis is a bit raw but has all the tools to become a dominate 3-4 rush LB.  He is a physical freak who prides himself on his violent play….could be the next James Harrison.

3. St. Louis Rams                         Juron Criner            WR           Arizona

Criner and the recent acquisition of Brandon Lloyd, finally gives Bradford some weapons to brag about.   Acquiring a franchise LT and a big play WR is just what the Rams offense needs.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars            Casey Hayward         CB           Vanderbilt

Gene Smith loves this type of player.  Hayward is an intelligent, team leader who plays for an under the radar school.  Hayward is a lock down CB who simply makes plays.  He is a force both as a CB and as a return man.  Jaguars need help on defense

5. Carolina Panthers                Stephon Gilmore    CB           SC

Panthers require big, physical CB to fit their system.  Gilmore would start the rebuilding process in the secondary.  Teamed with Godfrey the Panthers would at least have some talent in the back of their defense.

6. Minnesota Vikings            Kelechi Osemele       OG           Iowa State

The Vikings received a franchise LT in round 1 and now will improve the OG position.  Herrera is always injured and Hutchinson is getting far too many gray hairs.  Osemele would give the Vikings a dominate OG who has the ability to play RT as well.

7. Philadelphia Eagles (T)       Mike Adams               OT            Ohio State

Eagles need to continue last year’s effort to rebuild the OL.  Next in line is an upgrade at RT.  Mike Adams is a capable LT but is better  suited at  RT.  His physicality and athleticism will be welcomed. Adams will  be protecting Vick’s blindside.

8. Denver Broncos                      Chris Polk                                RB           Washington

Willis McGahee is winding down and Knowshon Moreno can’t stay healthy.   It is vital that John Fox has a dominate run game in his offense.  Polk is a player who just gets it done.  He is not blessed with a good OL or a pass game to detract attention from opposition…he just has great vision, tremendous balance, and a solid strength/speed combo.   He is flying up my draft board and I think Denver will be happy to have him.

9. Philadelphia Eagles               Travis Lewis             OLB         Oklahoma

I know his numbers are going down and he is a bit of a prim Dona….but this kid has immense talent.  He would team with Coples to improve the Eagles run defense.  Eagles have added some nastiness in this mock, that is missing in this year’s group.

10. Seattle Seahawks                 Nick Foles                                QB           Arizona

Might be a reach, but the Seahawks cannot go another season with Jackson and Whitehurst at QB.  Foles has done very well in the spread at Arizona and has elite accuracy and a powerful arm.  I question how quickly he checks down which might inflate his completion percentage,  but worse QB’s than Foles have went this high.  He will have good weapons and a sound OL to start off with.

11. Kansas City Chiefs             Donta Hightower      ILB           Alabama

Another big, smart, physical player who Pioli will love.  Chiefs need to improve their run defense and since there is no NT worth taking here they will improve their play at ILB.  Hightower is a force in the run and is a more than capable blitzer.  He will complement Derrick Johnson very well.

12. Dallas Cowboys                    Devon Still                               DL            Penn State

I know Cowboy fans will scream to improve their secondary and I want them to….but Burfict and Still are value  picks.  The Cowboys front seven would be dominate for some time…given the choice I think Rob Ryan would prefer a dominate front 7 to back 4.

13. Cleveland Browns            Ryan Broyles            WR           Oklahoma

As with Miller, the Browns need to surround McCoy with weapons.  Broyles would fit right in on this West Coast Offense with his precise routes, hands, and YAC ability. The Browns offense might be able to take it to the next level if their OL can add some talent.

14. Houston Texans                   Mohammed Sanu      WR           Rutgers

It is about time the Texans start to rebuild their offense.  Andre Johnson and  Owen Daniels are about the only targets worth fearing and they both usually spend some time out with injuries.  Sanu is a versatile weapon capable of playing WR, RB, and Return man.  He will give the Texans offense the boost they need.

15. New York Jets                       Bruce Irvin                               OLB         WV

Anyone who reads my mocks knows how I feel about Irvin.  That being said if Rex Ryan were to take him….Irvin just might have a chance.  I believe he is more athlete than football player, but the Jets badly need a pass rusher in the LB unit.  Irvin could be that spark plug.

16. Atlanta Falcons                     Nate Potter                               OT            Boise State

Matt Ryan is getting pummeled.  I think it’s the coaching staff’s fault.  This is a run first team that is trying to be a passing team.  Matt Ryan is not that type of QB and the OL is not a great pass blocking unit.  If they want to pass the ball a lot they should get a LT who can protect Ryan’s blind side.  Potter is just that type of player, but struggles in the run game.  Still I think it’s a good pick.

17. Chicago Bears                       Chase Minnifield       CB           Virginia

Bears really need to address their back seven on defense…they are running on fumes.  I think obtaining Minnifield this late in the second is a steal and will start the rebuilding process.  He is very sound versus both the run and the pass.

18. Washington Redskins       Ryan Tannehill         QB           Texas AM

I want to say a couple of things with this pick.  One I would not do it, two after a game like Tannehill had his stock is going up.  I think his style of play would fit in well with Shanahan.  His ability to throw on the run would allow Shanahan to run the bootleg more often.  I will be viewing Tannehill more closely but I think his will go down over time.

19. New England Pats (T)      Mark Barron             SS            Alabama

Barron plays the game with such passion and ferocity that it has Belichick remembering the glory days of Rodney Harrison  Barron is a Patriot type player and Belichick loves Sabin players.  I think this is a match made in heaven.

20. Buffalo Bills                     Dwayne Allen            TE            Clemson

Bills are having a very sound draft addressing their needs in the LB core as well as TE.  Allen is a two way TE who can influence the game with his blocking and pass catching.  Fitzpatrick gets a nice red zone weapon with the selection of Allen.

21. Cincinnati Bengals           Frank Alexander        DE            Oklahoma

Bengals get another DL to keep the talent and depth up in Cincinnati.  I feel the defense needs some attention and they are getting it in the early stages of this draft.  Alexander and Thompson give the Bengals a near elite DL.

22. New York Giants                 Barrett Jones            OL            Alabama

With the amount of holes the Giants OL has it is important to acquire some versatile talent.  Barrett Jones can play 4 out of the 5 positions very well.  He will either replace LG David Diehl or RT Kareem McKenzie in his rookie season.  After that he could be the LT for the Giants.

23. Tampa Bay Buccs                Lavonte David         OLB         Nebraska

After spending multiple drafts improving the DL the Buccs now are focused on the back seven.  David is a perfect fit in this offense due to his speed and ability to flow to the ball in both the run and the passing games.

24. San Diego Chargers           Chase Thomas          LB            Stanford

His ability to play both ILB and OLB make him a prime prospect for the Chargers.  The LB unit all of a sudden is a shadow of what it was and it will take a few drafts to get this unit back.  Thomas is a need pick and will probably play on the outside…one thing is for certain wherever he lines up…he will do well.

25. New Orleans Saints      Sean Spence             OLB         Miami

Saints get a steal.  Spence will slip because of his size but for those who watch him play know how good he will be in the N.F.L. The  Saints get a much needed talent boost to the linebacker group.  If Martez Wilson improves in year 2 than this is a promising young LB unit.

26. Pittsburgh Steelers      Markell Martin         FS            Oklahoma State

Keep the youth coming for this defense.  Ryan Clark is only a marginal starter.   Martin is a good fit due to his versatility and football IQ.  Chapman and Martin have this defense back on an upward swing.

27. Tennessee Titans             Kevin Zeitler             OG           Wisconsin

The Titans are weak in the interior of their OL.  Jake Scott is only average, Eugene Amano is a much better LG than center, and Leroy Harris need to go.  Zeitler will replace Harris and give the Titans interior OL some much needed muscle.

28. San Francisco 49ers         Cliff Harris              CB           Oregon

49ers pass defense could use some more talent.  Carlos Rogers is having a career year, but this could just be a fluke.  Cliff Harris would give the 49ers a very opportunistic CB.

29. Detroit Lions                          Janoris Jenkins        CB           N Alabama

Whoa…..okay let me start off by saying this: This year there is a ton of CB talent.  Jenkins might be the best of them, but he has issues that none of the other CB’s have. Now, Mayhew will not allow this kind of talent to fall any further.  Obtaining a Pro Bowl Caliber Center and a shut down CB is a great draft.

30. New England Patriots        Billy Winn                                DL            Boise State

Patriots obtain a great player who can play in both the 4-3 and 3-4 defensive schemes.  That is ideal since the Patriots like to play both.  I think this is the right spot for Winn who has shown ability to play with the big boys versus Georgia.

31. Baltimore Ravens                Andrew Datko           OT            FSU

We will see how serious this injury is come the off season.  If he is able to participate in some manner he might salvage this kind of a spot.  Ravens would love to acquire this kind of talent to play LT.  With Datko and Oher the Ravens would have a brutal run blocking unit.  Now center needs to be upgraded as well.

32. Green Bay Packers            Jared Crick                               DL            Nebraska

Same as above in regards to the offseason.  If Crick is able to participate and show he is recovering he might land higher.  Green Bay can afford to be patient for this type of talent.  I know their draft has been risky but it will probably pay off.

(Round three continued on next page)

Round 3

1. Indianapolis Colts Matt Reynolds           OT            BYU

Colts OL still needs some more youth and talent.  Ryan Diem is not getting it done anymore at RT.  The Colts need to replace him and Reynolds presents good fit and value.  Reynolds is known more for his pass protection than his run blocking and is best suited for a pass first team….Colts would qualify.

2. Miami Dolphins                 Levy Adcock             OT            Oklahoma State

Dolphins get a huge steal here.  Adcock has replaced Russell Okung very well and appears able to handle LT in the NFL.  The Dolphins would have him at RT which is probably his best position.  With more young talent on the OL it is inevitable that the OL will eventually become good.

3. St. Louis Rams                         Coryell Judie            CB           Texas AM

Rams are lacking depth in their secondary and playmakers.  Judie was a soaring prospect until injuries made him crash down to Earth.  I think with Bartell, Fletcher, and Murphy returning from injury as well as the addition of Judie…the CB position will be greatly improved.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars         Vinny Curry              DE/OLB    Marshall

Total Gene Smith pick here.  Small school, hard working, very productive player.  Smith can’t get enough of these players.  While Curry might be a better fit in a 3-4 defense…there is no denying his productivity as a pass rusher.  Curry might need to be a rotational DE player unless he can play OLB in a 4-3.

5. Chicago Bears (T)                  Robert Lester           FS            Alabama

Bears continue to upgrade their secondary.  Harris is aging and at this point in time Major Wright is a disappointment.  I think Lester would give the Bears the intelligent, play making FS they have missed since Mike Brown left because of numerous injuries.

6. Minnesota Vikings            Ray Ray Armstrong   SS            Miami

Vikings secondary leaves a ton to be desired.  Armstrong is the best player available and would fill the SS spot or FS spot.  He is physical and is starting to come into his own.  His productivity has not matched his ability yet, but I think Frazier will get him there.

7. Arizona Cardinals   Cordy Glenn             OG           Georgia

Glenn reminds me a lot of John Jerry.  Played tackle in college but is nothing more than an OG in the Pros.  Glenn was abused earlier this season and I seriously question draft experts who have him any higher than this.  That being said, he will improve the Cardinals OL and team with Fluker to give the Cardinals a dominate run game.

8. Denver Broncos                 Shea McClellin          DE            Boise State

With the backfield cleared up its time to get started on the defense.  The DL of the Broncos is in shambles and needs to get sorted out for the Broncos to take the next step.  McClellin is a lot like Kyle Vanden Bosch and will give the Broncos a relentless pass rusher and strong run defender they need.

9. Philadelphia Eagles               Tydreke Powell         DT            NC

Eagles continue to upgrade their talent and size on the DL.  Powell might not rack up the stats but can certainly clog up the middle, which is what is sorely missed on this Eagles defense.

10. Seattle Seahawks                 Brandon Lindsay      DE            Pittsburgh

Seahawks like to flip flop between the 3-4 and the 4-3.  It is imperative that their DE can also play OLB.  Lindsay would be ideal and is a real value at this spot.  Before he was destroyed by Reiff he was a second round prospect.  Now he needs to really show up in a big game to move up the board.

11. Kansas City Chiefs             Kendall Reyes          DL            UCONN

Chiefs need to improve their pass rush.  Dorsey and Jackson are almost locks to go sackless every year.   I know 3-4 DL typically do not rack up the sack totals but their sack total is alarmingly low.  Reyes is very athletic and has great initial explosiveness. He can become the type of 5 technique they thought they were acquiring from Jackson. The Chiefs might need to be patient, but in time this will be a great pick.

12. Dallas Cowboys                    Delano Howell          SS            Stanford

Howell has the size and intelligence that Rob Ryan likes in the safety position.  While, CB might be a greater need Howell is a good value and keeps the defensive talent coming.

13. Cleveland Browns            Keith Tandy              CB           WV

Browns continue improving the secondary.  Tandy is a wiry CB who is able to come up with a solid amount of interceptions…this is good because he will see plenty of action with Haden on the other side.

14. Houston Texans                Ryan Miller             OG           Colorado

With Miller’s game versus Washington he might move up from here.  As of right now the Texans get a steal and a player capable of playing multiple positions.  I think his athleticism would endear himself to Kubiak’s style.

15. New York Jets                 BJ Cunningham       WR           MSU

Jets need some more offensive talent.  For the OL as well as at RB and WR.  Cunningham is a vastly under rated prospect who has great size, hands, body control, and blocking abilities.  I think he would do well in a run first offense.

16. Atlanta Falcons                     Shaun Prater            CB           Iowa

Falcons lack CB depth.  They get exposed when opposing offenses spread them out.  In order to combat this the Falcons need to acquire more CB depth, especially those with good press coverage.  Shaun Prater is an Iowa CB who thrives on press coverage.

17. Chicago Bears                       Jeff Fuller                 WR           Texas AM

Bears need to acquire some larger WR’s to help out in the red zone.  They have Earl Bennett but he is injured far too often.  Fuller would complement Hester and Nox.

18. Washington Redskins       Nick Toon                 WR           Wisconsin

Toon would be gone by now if he could stay healthy.  Redskins hope Toon can stay healthy and Hankerson will improve in year 2.

19. Oakland Raiders              Terrell Pryor            QB           Ohio State

Supplemental Pick

20. Buffalo Bills                     Emmanuel Acho        LB            Texas

Acho has the size, speed, and versatility to play ILB and OLB in the 3-4 as well as OLB in a 4-3.  His production in the pass rush has not matched his potential.  With Acho and Upshaw the LB unit is improving drastically.

21. Cincinnati Bengals           Cyrus Gray                               RB           Texas AM

Since the Bengals were unable to obtain a power RB to replace Benson, they might have to resign him and partner him with a Cyrus Gray who plays a lot like Felix Jones.  He splits carries at A&M, but is an able runner and receiver.

22. New York Giants                 Ben Jones                                C              Georgia

I know David Baas is not the worst player on the OL but he can move to OG.  Baas is far from an elite center.  Ben Jones gives the giants a lunch pail like OL that they love.  With Barrett Jones and Ben Jones coming in, the OL is starting to take shape.

23. Tampa Bay Buccs                Ricky Wagner          OT            Wisconsin

The Buccs now can turn their attention to the OL.  Three positions need to be upgraded: RT, C, and LG.  Wagner will fill in the RT spot.  Lined up next to Davin Joseph will allow the Buccs to complete many short yardage situations.

24. San Diego Chargers           Donnie Fletcher        CB           BC

Chargers could always use more CB depth.  Fletcher would provide them with a solid nickel CB who is very sound in press coverage and able to make big plays.  Not flashy but satisfying.

25. New Orleans Saints      Andre Branch           DE            Clemson

Branch would give the Saints the type of upside they need at DE.  Branch has stepped up his production since Bowers left.  He is on pace for a 10 sack season but seems to disappear against elite competition.  Gregg Williams has the ability to churn out potential out of players.

26. Pittsburgh Steelers      Brandon Boykins     CB           Georgia

Steelers stick to the philosophy that they will eventually get a sound CB in the 3rd round.  I like Boykins since he seems to make big plays in big games.  I do not know with his size if he can make it in the NFL but he has potential.

27. Tennessee Titans             Jordan White            WR           W Michigan

With Britt always injured, Damian Williams and Jared Cook not being consistent, and Nate Washington being a good number 2….the Titans need more firepower.  White is money in the bank considering his route running, hands, and body control are all above average.  Could be a huge sleeper at the WR position.

28. San Francisco 49ers         Marvin McNutt         WR           Iowa

McNutt is never going to be an elite WR.  He will be steady and has shown the ability to thrive in a run first offense.  His blocking and ability to get 1st downs is ideal in this offense.

29. Detroit Lions                          Danny Trevathan       OLB         Kentucky

Getting this type of LB would complete our LB unit.  He is a seek and destroy missile who can blitz and cover the RB/TE on a consistent basis.  I think he drops because of the team he plays on and his size.  Still being protected by the Lions’ DL will help out.   Trevathan and Janoris Jenkins really improve the back seven on the defense.

30. New England Patriots        Nigel Bradham         LB            FSU

Besides Mayo the Patriots LB core is underachieving.  Bradham is one of the better players on a good FSU defense.  His senior season he has shown the ability to blitz and drop back in coverage.  While he might not be an elite run defender he is definitely a steal here.

31. Baltimore Ravens                William Vlachos        C              Alabama

Ravens have ignored their aging defense to complete the holes on offense.  Weird saying that about the Ravens but the OL needed work and Datko and Vlachos give them options.

32. Green Bay Packers            LaMichael James       RB           Oregon

Green Bay loves to have an embarrassment of riches.  While not weak at RB they lack a big play maker at the position.  James would come in and be used sparingly but effectively.  I love this pick for this team.
