With the first big wave of free agency in the books, the 2017 NFL Mock Draft season has a bit more clarity. Though picking the NFL Draft is an even more complicated process than March Madness, the exercise is great for looking at a variety of options.

The New England Patriots have no selections in the first two rounds, while the Cleveland Browns have four. Where will all the quarterbacks land? Who will cash in on this year’s depth at tight end and defensive back?

Let’s take a look at one way the first round could be shaken up by the initial wave of free agency…

FIRST ROUND

Cleveland Browns. 1. player. 53. This is the obvious pick here for the Cleveland Browns. Garrett is a possible franchise cornerstone piece, an incredible athlete, and has perennial All-Pro potential. They can’t screw this up.. Myles Garrett, EDGE. Texas A&M

2. player. 42. John Lynch and the rest of the staff with the 49ers have signed Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley to compete for this year’s starting job, but I don’t see how they could pass on DeShaun Watson. He’s a proven winner and has all the tools you look for in a franchise quarterback. I think Lynch will be sold on Watson’s competitive drive.. DeShaun Watson, QB. Clemson. San Francisco 49ers

3. player. 57. The Bears only signed Mike Glennon to essentially a one-year deal, so this could be a quarterback, but they might be better off looking at next year’s crop of players. Solomon Thomas has great versatility up front and elite athletic ability. He can come in and be a major difference maker right away.. Solomon Thomas, DE. Stanford. Chicago Bears

player. 52. The Jaguars need a jolt of something on offense. This is kind of a weird pick in the draft this year, because they are so talented defensively but the positions Jacksonville needs help in, the draft isn’t overly strong. I think Fournette would be an excellent pick here because this is a spot where you can get a difference maker and Jacksonville desperately needs this kind of playmaker offensively.. Leonard Fournette, RB. LSU. Jacksonville Jaguars. 4
