Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian showed some impressive signs of life in the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night…

The Sunday night loss for the Denver Broncos is a really tough pill to swallow, but the outcome of the game has overshadowed some really good individual performances.

Specifically, quarterback Trevor Siemian played a really good game overall on Sunday night after a slow start.

Facing really a bad matchup overall, Siemian shredded the Chiefs (specifically, Phillip Gaines) for 20 completions, 368 yards, and three touchdowns. He also didn’t throw any interceptions.

This was particularly shocking because of a number of factors. First of all, the Broncos’ offensive line going up against the Chiefs’ stud defensive front is not an ideal situation for a young quarterback. Second, Siemian was facing off against a couple of the best ball-hawks in the NFL and the team that leads the league in interceptions.

Ever heard of Marcus Peters, one of the best young corners in the game? How about Eric Berry?

Of course, the Broncos have some horses of their own offensively, but the matchup in the passing game clearly favors the Chiefs on paper, and the Broncos destroyed that notion with one of their best passing outputs of the season.

Siemian made arguably the best play of his young career, as well…

Trust me when I tell you that almost no one saw this coming. Of course, Broncos fans hoped it would/could happen, but the type of guts and playmaking ability late in the game that Trevor Siemian showed is the kind of play the Broncos want to see from their young quarterback for a full four quarters.

Siemian’s breakthrough second half wasn’t unlike his performance against the Cincinnati Bengals where he had a similar surge, but this one seemed more like Siemian was in control and dropping the ball into spots rather than just tossing it up, hoping his receivers made plays.

There were huge third down conversions, big time runs when breaking free from the pocket, and this dime to Emmanuel Sanders…

Many Broncos fans have spent the entire season expressing their displeasure/impatience with the former seventh round pick, but games like he had against Kansas City show you why Gary Kubiak and the Broncos coaching staff have so much faith in him.
