Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott was pressed into action earlier than he expected, but he had another solid preseason outing…

Tony Romo was injured in the Dallas Cowboys’ third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, and Dak Prescott was forced into action earlier than he likely anticipated.

It didn’t seem to phase him all that much.

Prescott came in and did some really nice things, including throwing a touchdown pass to Jason Witten who made a really great play on the ball…

This has got to be bittersweet for some Cowboys fans, because Prescott has looked so good but his playing time is coming at the expense of Romo’s health in this case. There’s no question about it — they got a steal in the fourth round with this guy, and this is the type of player that looks like he can take over as the starter in Dallas sooner rather than later.

More from NFL Mocks

We’ve seen Prescott make really good decisions with the football, and we’ve seen him make good, accurate throws down the field. There were certainly questions about his ability to be consistently accurate in the intermediate-deep part of the field, but he’s shown off some big time arm talent. If you watch the throws from Thursday night’s game, you’ll see a pass from Prescott where he steps up into the pocket to avoid pressure and then throws a perfect ball down the field that the Cowboys receiver is unable to haul in.

It’s another in a long line of examples this offseason that this kid can play, and it has some thinking that Dallas might be able to rest Romo at times — even at the start of the season — so that he is fresh later on to make a playoff run.

With such a great offensive line in front of him and a collection of talented skill players, the situation offensively in Dallas is one that was made for a guy like Prescott to succeed, and he’s passing every test.
