Redskins linebacker Junior Galette will miss his second consecutive season

Training camp for the Washington Redskins took a major hit Monday afternoon with the news that linebacker Junior Galette would miss his second consecutive season after suffering his second achillies injury in a years span.

NFL Network insider Rand Getlin had the original report on Galette’s injury, while ProFootballTalk confirmed Galette did not tear the same tendon this time around.

Galette was signed by the Redskins prior to the 2015 season after the New Orleans Saints released the outside linebacker after domestic violence allegations.

After tearing his left achillies prior to last season, Galette was returning to Washington with the hopes of revitalizing his football career. Now with his right achillies torn, his career is in major jeopardy.

Galette was coming off of back-to-back double-digit sack seasons with New Orleans prior to being released. New Orleans picked up Galette after he went undrafted out of Stillman in 2010. The Haitian linebacker originally attended Temple, but was suspended during his junior season.

Washington did not draft any strong side linebackers who could replace Galette this season, leaving them with 2015 undrafted free agent Houston Bates, who started zero games as a rookie and recorded just 10 tackles.

Among the remaining free agents at strong side linebacker are veterans A.J. Hawk, Dwight Freeney, and Mike Neal.
