Lions v. Jaguars Second Half Observations

Final Score: Lions 22 – Jaguars 17

Zach Zenner Deserves to Make the Lions

He kid is just fun to watch. An aggressive down hill runner, Zenner went underrated out of South Dakota State. While Abdullah, Bell and Riddick are hanging around, the kid has something special. With eight carries for 85 yards and the go-ahead touchdown, he’s making a name for himself.

He’s just too talented to cut. If the Lions are forced to let him go, multiple teams will make it a priority to snag him. Read up on Zenner here, courtesy of NFL Mocks.

Jacksonville Has a Ton of Offensive Talent

Blake Bortles went 20-29 with 245 yards. Entering the fourth quarter, ten Jaguars had at least one reception, all but one had more than ten receiving yards. A core of Bortles, Yeldon, Robinson and Hurns could become the future in Jacksonville for a long time.

Penalties Hurt the Lions

130 penalties yards tonight for the Lions. Jim Caldwell can’t be happy with that stat at all, and it’ll be a major issue going forward. Games like tonight can cost you a playoff spot, so the Lions desperately need to cut down on the penalties.

Should We Worry About Matt Prater

Prater joined the group of kickers that missed an extra point attempt tonight. The Lions had so many issues at kicker last season, using three throughout the season. The team does like Kyle Brindza, a UDFA, who made a long field goal tonight but I still expect Prater to keep the job.

Scoring Summary

Jason Myers 35 yd FG (Jaguars)

Kyle Brindza 51 yd FG (Lions)

Zach Zenner 3 yd rushing TD, two point conversion attempt NO GOOD (Lions)
