After being cut by the Bengals last week, former Ohio State star quaterback and converted receiver Terrelle Pryor has found a new home. According to multiple reports, the Cleveland Browns were awarded the now wide receiver Terrelle Pryor off of waivers. Pryor was cut by the Bengals after it became apparent former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron had won the back-up job.

The Browns made the official announcement on Twitter earlier Monday evening.

The Browns have been starving for some wide receiver help, especially with the suspension of Josh Gordon. While Pryor has the physical traits of an NFL wide receiver, he will have to spend time learning the ins and outs of playing the position. The 6’4, 26-year old will need to learn the basic techniques and language NFL receivers have become accustomed to, as well as specifics such as route trees. Pryor brings only one NFL reception to his name, a 22-yard catch in 2012 for Oakland. The speedy Pryor is known to run a sub-4.40.

After playing in 11 games back in 2013, Pryor has seen little action in his NFL career. Drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft, Pryor had to wait his turn to get NFL action. After playing one game in 2011 (without accumulation any official stats) Pryor started one game and saw action in three in 2012. He got his first full-time opportunity in 2013 when he was named the Raiders starter. Playing in 11 games (starting 9) Pryor threw seven touchdowns, 11 interceptions and ran for two additional touchdowns. Pryor would be traded to the Seahawks after that season, but never saw game action. He has spent the rest of his time on the Chiefs and Bengals roster in 2015, but was cut by each early in the process.

Pryor faces little competition at the wide receiver position in Cleveland. Brian Hartline and Dwayne Bowe currently hold the starting roles, while fourth round pick Vince Mayle is expected to earn a significant role in the Cleveland offense.
