Having one great wide receiver isn’t going to cut it on this list.  NFL power rankings always involve teams, right?  So in that vein here are the five best receiving corps in the league going into 2015.

#1 – Green Bay Packers

  • Jordy Nelson (WR)
  • Randall Cobb (WR)
  • Davante Adams (WR)
  • Andrew Quarless (TE)
  • Eddie Lacy (RB)

Most the reasoning behind their top rankings has to do with the two men at the top.  Nelson and Cobb dominated last season, both going for at least 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns.  Adams emerged late last season as a dangerous third option for Aaron Rodgers while Quarless was a credible 3rd down and red zone threat.  Lacy?  He may be known for his thumping running style, but he had 446 receiving yards last season too.

#2 – New York Giants

  • Odell Beckham Jr. (WR
  • Victor Cruz (WR)
  • Rueben Randle (WR)
  • Larry Donnell (TE)
  • Shane Vereen (RB)

They holds #2 on the list despite the top two receivers on the depth chart having never played a down with each other.  That is how high the potential is for this group.  The speed along from Beckham Jr. and Cruz is crazy while Randle brings size.  Donnell was one of the bigger surprises in 2014, becoming yet another Giants uncovered gem at tight end.  The addition of Shane Vereen as a pass catching back will be a huge help for Eli Manning as well.

#3 – Chicago Bears

  • Alshon Jeffery (WR)
  • Kevin White (WR)
  • Eddie Royal (WR)
  • Martellus Bennett (TE)
  • Matt Forte (RB)

Jay Cutler has been a spoiled man.  The Chicago Bears receiving corps was pretty good the past two years but it might be even better now.  Though they lost Brandon Marshall, they added White (who is almost as big and much faster) and also the quick, elusive Royal to fill their long suffering slot position.  That just leaves Bennett, who is a Pro Bowler and Forte who had 102 receptions last season.

#4 – Detroit Lions

  • Calvin Johnson (WR)
  • Golden Tate (WR)
  • Corey Fuller (WR)
  • Eric Ebron (TE)
  • Ameer Abdullah (RB)

Johnson wasn’t his dominant self in 2014, but he was still far more dangerous than most receivers.  Golden Tate remains one of the most underrated at the position, always seeming to make big, important catches.  Corey Fuller quietly found a home at the #3 spot.  The real wild card rests with Ebron and Abdullah.  Both have tons of talent as pass catchers, but must prove it at the NFL level.  Matthew Stafford also must make a better effort to get it to them.

#5 – Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Antonio Brown (WR)
  • Martavis Bryant (WR)
  • Markus Wheaton (WR)
  • Sammie Coates (WR)
  • Heath Miller (TE)

There may not be a deeper receiving corps in these NFL power rankings than the Pittsburgh Steelers.  They were already set with Brown, Bryant and Wheaton as the top three.  To add a high upside burner like Coates just for the hell of it is basically the rich getting richer for Ben Roethlisberger.  Then there is tough, crafty old veteran Heath Miller who just keeps doing his thing.
